Management Systems
Where is the best place to start?
So, you have termites...

Following a thorough inspection of your property, we will develop a tailored treatment plan to shield your home from termite infestations. This plan will encompass projected outcomes, a comprehensive treatment schedule, and clear instructions for all occupants. Our team is committed to delivering transparent and efficient termite control services, and we will keep you informed every step of the way.
The method of treating termite problems differs based on the unique situation. The following are some of the available termite treatment systems:

To protect your home, it's crucial to have an annual timber pest inspection and regular treatments. It is recommended to conduct termite inspections annually, and more frequently if there is suspicion of a specific termite species, the building construction type, environmental conditions, property location and geography, and history of any termite-related issues within or surrounding the property should also be taken into consideration. Termites reproduce quickly and can infest both indoor and outdoor areas of your property, causing extensive damage to residential and commercial structures. Unfortunately, once termites have damaged the timber features on your property, the harm is irreversible. It's important to note that termite damage is typically not covered by insurance. This means that any repairs or fixes needed would have to be paid for out of pocket. Depending on the severity of the damage, this cost can be quite significant.
To steer clear of these issues, consider choosing our thermal imaging termite inspection services. While some companies may suggest that invasive inspections are the only way to locate termite infestations, our modern and advanced thermal imaging cameras can effectively detect all areas of thermal inconsistencies and moisture, allowing for a detailed diagnosis without the need for invasive procedures. Opting for thermal imaging services is a wise choice whenever possible.
Physical Termite Barrier
Building regulations and requirements across all Australian states and territories mandate the installation of a termite barrier in all new residential and commercial structures. These physical barriers are engineered to block termites from infiltrating hidden areas of the structure, thereby exposing them for easy detection. These are:
-
Ideal for new homes
-
Can only be installed during construction
-
Extremely effective in combating Subterranean termites

How does it work?
A Termite Barrier is typically installed during the construction phase of a property. It is placed beneath and/or around the piping of the home, using wide sheets that are laid down after the slab is poured. This creates a physical barrier that protects your property from termite infiltration.
The barrier is effective against termites for the long and also helps to protect your home from moisture.
A Termite Barrier is a highly recommended solution to proactively address potential termite problems that may arise in the future. This is because it is a physical barrier that is built into your home or building, which provides a reliable and long-lasting protection against termite infestation. In the unlikely event that termites manage to penetrate the barrier from outside, the Termite Barrier has a designated perimeter inspection zone that allows for quick detection and elimination of termites. This ensures that your property remains safe and secure from any potential termite damage.
Chemical Termite Treatment:
There are two primary types of chemical sprays that can be used to eliminate termites. The first type is a repellent, which creates a protective zone around the perimeter and under concrete slabs to prevent termites from entering a building. The second type targets the central nervous system of termites, disrupting their ability to reproduce.
This non-repellent chemical is taken back to the nest by the termites, infecting others and beginning the elimination process. We recommend regular termite inspections to ensure that these chemical barriers remain effective, and we may need to reapply to maintain ongoing protection. At the Bug Specialist, we use environmentally friendly termite treatments that comply with Australian Standards. This applies for the following:

New Homes & Buildings:
To protect new buildings from termite invasion, we offer an integrated approach that includes a chemically treated layer of soil around the perimeter, subfloor and underslab, as well as physical barriers for plumbing penetration pipes and concrete slabs. Our termiticide can be applied to the soil under the slab and around the footings, construction joints, pipes, conduits, and other structures of the house or building to create a horizontal barrier. This solution is highly effective and long-lasting.
Existing Homes & Buildings:
The perimeter of the house, the soil, stumps, and accessible service facilities, are treated in existing homes or buildings to form a protective barrier. When termites attempt to forage through the treated soil, they encounter the termiticide, which either repels them or causes mortality upon contact. This disrupts their ability to access the structure to prevent future infestations.
Termite Reticulation System:
A subterranean network of pipes is engineered to evenly disperse termiticides throughout the foundation of a building and its surrounding area. This reticulation system facilitates the ongoing replenishment of the chemical barrier, making it easy to top up the chemicals every 3-5 years.

-
It’s an ideal solution for newly constructed homes and regions with a high likelihood of termite infestations.
-
It can only be installed during the construction phase.
-
The systems around the property’s perimeter can be set up after the completion of the property, but before any landscaping or paving work commences.

Termite Monitoring & Baiting Stations
In-ground Monitoring & baiting:
In-ground termite stations are strategically placed around your property, particularly in areas prone to termite attraction such as damp soil or mulch, old tree stumps, irrigation sprinkler heads, and downspouts.
Some devices are regularly inspected and a baiting program is initiated when active termites are found. Other devices, which contain active baits, are regularly checked irrespective of termite activity.
Worker termites carry the bait, which includes a termiticide, back to their nests as a food source, eventually leading to the collapse of the colony.
-
Ideal for homeowners and businesses seeking to proactively combat termites
-
Can be implemented at any time
-
Designed for both monitoring and baiting

Above-ground Monitoring & baiting:
Above-ground termite monitoring utilises discreet termite bait stations. These are positioned on identified feeding sites and are removed once the termite colony is controlled.
-
Ideal for homeowners and businesses with active termites within the property
-
Can be implemented at any time
-
Designed exclusively for baiting
